It has been some time since I wrote a blog post, but I thought Princeton would be the perfect introduction back into blogging. I met Princeton and his parents on his 11th day of life. As you can see from his gallery, he was the most handsome little boy. He is also just as calm as he can be. I typically photograph babies between 5-14 days old. Depending on their birth, and how mommy is feeling, sometimes I get the babies into my studio right away, and sometimes it is closer to the 14 days. As I explain to each of my parents when they come in for their session, their baby normally runs the show. We work on their schedule and how they go into each position. Not every baby will do every position, and that is okay because no matter what I will make sure each and every gallery is a perfect depiction of your new little love bug. I really adore working with newborns because not only can I cuddle with little babies and give them the gentleness they need for their session, but I also get to connect with the parents. I remember being a new mom and not knowing what the heck I was doing. During a newborn session I try to talk to the moms and get to know them better and talk about how motherhood is going. If they have any concerns or fears about this new little life they are in control of. I feel this is where my relationships are born with my clients. For me the session is more about the relationships I build and the experience my clients receive more than anything.
Well without further adieu here is little Princeton! Enjoy!
Senior sessions are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I love to meet these young people and get inside their world for a few hours. I'll be honest MOST of the time when I arrive, my client (the senior) is not really in the mood to have their pictures taken. In fact, their mom is the one who really wants these images. Funny thing, by the end of the session my client (the senior) says they really had a great time and it wasn't as bad as they thought it was going to be. That, my friends, is what makes me the happiest. I never want a session to be dreadful for anyone. I want a session to be as normal as possible with a little bit of posing in the mix.
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting the Ackerman family. Brendan is a senior at Forest, Class of 2017. He is a super handsome young man who is very respectful and sweet. When we first started his session he told me that he was headed to UF to play football for the FLORIDA GATORS! Well, he had me from that point on because anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE my Gators! Once we started talking Gator football I could see the spark in his eyes. I could feel his excitement and passion. I'll be honest, I don't know all the football positions on the field, and yes Brendan did tell me what position he is going to play, but all I can tell you is that it is going to be on defense. Brendan told me his dad also played for the Gators, which is super cool. My dad told me (because he is the biggest Gator fan alive) that he knew Brendan's dad, Brady, and that he in fact does sideline commentary for the Gators. EVEN COOLER! :-)
During Brendan's session I met his beautiful mother, Michele, his sweet girlfriend, Kaye, and his spunky little sister, Gabby. With these three amazing women in his life, it was only right to include them in his session (of course at Brendan's request). Brendan's dad, Brady, joined us later in the session and we got a few father son images as well, of course on the football field.
Brendan I know you are destined for great things on and off the field. I am looking forward to coming to plenty of football games this season and cheering for you as loud as I can! Good luck in the fall and show them how great you are! GO GATORS!!!
As some of you may know, and for those of you who don't, I have several maternity couture dresses in my stash for my maternity clients to wear during their session. I recently added a new beautiful wine colored long sleeve dress and I was itching to photograph it on the perfect mom. I put out a model call and received an overwhelming response. I was drawn to Brittany and her little family and thought she would be perfect for this dress. (not that the other candidates weren't perfect, but I only needed one model)
When we began the session, I snapped a few of Brittany with her family in their own clothes, then I had her change into this amazing dress. I have to say it is one of my ultimate favorite maternity dresses.
If anyone is looking for a beautiful dress at a great price, please check out Jazzy Vintage Couture on Etsy and Facebook. Her dresses are perfect.
Without further adieu her are some of my favorites from Brittany's maternity model session.
Fall is my MOST favorite time of year. The weather is beautiful! The colors are rich and calming. I just can't get enough of it. So naturally my fall minis produced some of my favorite images. Here are just a few of my favorites from the sessions. Now I'm excited to start my Christmas minis. :-)
It has been awhile since I have done a blog post and I thought this would be the perfect time to do another and share about this adorable little girl I met recently.
Kalissa turned ONE this past week and her birthday was all things pink, pearls, and MINNIE MOUSE. Who could go wrong with that combination?
So when Kalissa's mom Kristina first contacted me about doing her session, I explained how my first birthday sessions go. I explained the setups we would use and at the end we could do a cake smash. Kristina was excited about the vision I had and we came up with the perfect session for Ms. Kalissa. Before we ended our conversation, I explained to Kristina that normally at one year old sessions I barely get a few smiles. The child looks at me like I have five heads most of the time, but that I would work hard to get at least one smile. I don't like to be negative about a session, but I like to keep parents expectations where they need to be so they are not disappointed if their child doesn't smile or laugh a lot, like they may do at home. Kristina tried to tell me that her daughter loved to smile and would probably "ham it up" during her session. I then explained that most children don't like the cake too much and would probably only poke at it.
Let me tell you how wrong I was about Ms. Kalissa. SHE smiled not only once, but her ENTIRE session. She KILLED the cake smash part, and was the happiest little girl EVER, which translated into such adorable pictures that her family can treasure for a lifetime.
Here are a sample of some images from her 1st Birthday Session.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!
